Homemade Ukrainian Sauerkraut!!!

Fermenting foods is very beneficial! It can come in handy in the winter when vegetables and fruit can be pricey and you have already stored up on all the food you need to get through the winter. When you have guests over you can always pull out this sauerkraut and have a salad to go. It`s delicious,sweet and sour taste can always satisfy you anytime of the day.

Ingredients:
2 heads medium size cabbage
2 large carrots
¼ cup salt
Step by Step Process:
First you need to wash all the carrots and cabbage.
Shred the cabbage in a big bowl,then peel the carrots and shred them too.
Add the salt and then toss the mixture squeezing all the juices out.
Place a lid and a heavy jar on top so the sauerkraut is under pressure.
leave in cold area for about 24 hours before serving.
I like to add sunflower oil and some sugar when it;s ready to serve if you like yours sweet.
Ps: I like to add this into Borscht , or any salad of your choice.
