Traditional Easter Cakes (Пасха)

Its Good Friday today. These cakes are a tradition to make every Easter holiday. Today God gave his life for us. To honor Him we make these cakes in memory of him and think of His suffering for us, very sad and gruesome day for all of us. I hope everyone tries these cakes out they are super easy and good. We usually only make them for Easter,, but feel free to try it out whenever. Hope everyone enjoys ! Bon Appetite

Ingredients:

  • 60g Sour Cream

  • 250ml milk

  • 25g dry yeast

  • 180g sugar

  • 20g vanilla sugar

  • 4 cups of flour

  • 2 big eggs

  • 60g butter

  • 100g of raisins

  • 3 Teaspoons of icing sugar

Step by step Process:

  • Warm the milk.add the dry yeast,pinch of salt and sugar.

  • Then add 2-3 Tbl of flour into the mixture let soak for about 15mins.

  • When the yeast as awakened add the rest of the sugar,sourcream and eggs.

  • Knead the dough carefully adding 1 cup of flour at a time mix well together with your hands

  • When combined put the dough in a bowl in warm place and cover with a towel,let sit and rise for about 1 1/2hr.

  • Soak the raisins in warm water before adding in the dough it will mix in easier.

  • Grease the pans you plan to use with butter.

  • Turn oven on to 180F.

  • Pour mixture in the pan place in oven for about 30-45mins.

  • When cool pour the glaze over top of the cakes.

Glaze:

  • Whisk the egg whites and icing sugar until white and fluffy.

  • Sprinkle chocolate or candy over top of the glaze.

  • Decorate the cakes however you would like.
